ALU-TAB DESCRIPTION:
ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE - ORAL (uh-LEW-mih-num hi-DROX-ide)

COMMON ALU-TAB BRAND NAME(S):
Alu-Cap, Alu-Tab, Amphojel, Dialume

ALU-TAB SIDE EFFECTS:
ALU-TAB is generally well tolerated. Loss of appetite or constipation may occur. Notify your doctor if you vomit coffee ground-like material or if you have dark, tar-like stools. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

HOW TO USE ALU-TAB:
ALU-TAB: Take ALU-TAB as directed usually between meals and at bedtime. Do not take more than is prescribed. Too much antacid can actually increase the amount of acid the stomach produces.

ALU-TAB USES:
Aluminum hydroxide is an antacid. It reduces stomach acid relieving heartburn and indigestion. It is used to treat an upset stomach, ulcers, hiatal hernia or other digestive problems.

OTHER USES OF ALU-TAB:
ALU-TAB may also be used to treat high phosphate levels.

ALU-TAB PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing stomach disorders or allergies. ALU-TAB should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Small amounts of ALU-TAB may be excreted in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

ALU-TAB DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take, especially iron, oral antidiabetic medication, tetracycline or digoxin. Antacids can interfere with the absorption of many other drugs. Be sure to check with your pharmacist before taking antacids with any other medication. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

ALU-TAB OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include constipation.

ALU-TAB NOTES:
ALU-TAB is available in various forms: liquid, suspension, capsules or tablets. Some of the liquids may be more pleasant tasting than others. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to help select the best product for you.

MISSED ALU-TAB DOSE:
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

ALU-TAB STORAGE:
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat, light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom.
