ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE SIDE EFFECTS:
ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE is generally well tolerated. Loss of appetite or constipation may occur. Notify your doctor if you: vomit coffee ground-like matter, develop dark/tar-like stools. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
HOW TO USE ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE:
ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE: Take ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE as directed usually between meals and at bedtime. Do not take more than is prescribed. Too much antacid can actually increase the amount of acid the stomach produces. Shake well before pouring each dose.
ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE USES:
Aluminum hydroxide is an antacid. It neutralizes and reduces stomach acid relieving heartburn and indigestion. It is used to treat an upset stomach, ulcers, hiatal hernia or other digestive disorders. ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE may also be used in certain kidney conditions to reduce phosphate levels.
ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing stomach disorders or allergies. ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Small amounts of ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE may be excreted in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take especially iron, tetracycline, oral antidiabetic medication and digoxin. Antacids can interfere with the absorption of many other drugs. Be sure to check with your pharmacist before taking antacids with any other medication. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe constipation, dizziness, fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite, drowsiness.
ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE NOTES:
ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE is available in various forms: liquid, suspension, capsules or tablets. Some of the liquid be more pleasant tasting than others. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to help select the best product for you.
MISSED ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE DOSE:
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE STORAGE:
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat, light and moisture. It may be stored in the refrigerator to improve taste.
