Drug Name: AMOXIL
AMOXIL DESCRIPTION:
AMOXICILLIN CHEWABLE TABLETS - ORAL (uh-mox-eh-SILL-in)
COMMON AMOXIL BRAND NAME(S):
Amoxil
AMOXIL SIDE EFFECTS:
AMOXIL may cause stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting during the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor promptly. An allergic reaction to AMOXIL is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness or trouble breathing. Use of AMOXIL for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.g., oral or vaginal yeast infection). Contact your doctor if you notice white patches in your mouth, a change in vaginal discharge or other new symptoms. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
HOW TO USE AMOXIL:
AMOXIL: Tablets must be chewed thoroughly and followed by a full glass of water (8oz or 240ml). Take this medication as directed by your doctor, usually every 8 or 12 hours. AMOXIL may be taken with or without food. Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Therefore, take AMOXIL at evenly spaced intervals. Continue to take AMOXIL until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a relapse of the infection. Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve in a few days.
AMOXIL USES:
Amoxicillin treats a wide variety of bacterial infections.
AMOXIL PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of blood disorders, kidney problems, or allergies to penicillin or other antibiotics. Before using AMOXIL, tell your doctor if you are pregnant. AMOXIL passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
AMOXIL DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may take, especially of probenecid, disulfiram, birth control pills or tetracyclines. AMOXIL may interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills. Discuss using other methods of birth control with your doctor. This antibiotic may cause false positive results in diabetic urine testing using Clinitest. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
AMOXIL OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
AMOXIL NOTES:
AMOXIL has been prescribed for your current condition only. Do not use it later for another infection. A different medication may be necessary in those cases. Do not share AMOXIL with others.
MISSED AMOXIL DOSE:
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
AMOXIL STORAGE:
Keep at room temperature between 59 to 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from sunlight and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom.
