ANCOBON DESCRIPTION:
FLUCYTOSINE - ORAL (flew-SYE-toe-seen)

ANCOBON SIDE EFFECTS:
ANCOBON may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, itching, dry mouth, weakness, fatigue. If these symptoms continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop a skin rash, jaundice, chest pain, breathing trouble, dizziness, mental confusion, hearing loss, tingling of the hands or feet or experience uncontrollable movements while taking ANCOBON. ANCOBON can affect your kidney, liver and blood. Tests will be done to monitor for this. Your therapy will be adjusted accordingly. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

HOW TO USE ANCOBON:
ANCOBON: ANCOBON is taken by mouth usually at 6 hour intervals. To reduce stomach upset, it is best to swallow the capsules for each dose over a period of fifteen minutes. Do not swallow all the capsules for one dose at the same time. Continue using ANCOBON for the full time prescribed. Stopping therapy too soon may result in ineffective treatment.

ANCOBON WARNING:
ANCOBON must be used with extreme caution if you have kidney problems. Tell your doctor if you have any type of kidney problems before using ANCOBON. Contact your doctor immediately if you develop any of the following: yellowing of the skin or eyes, abdominal or stomach pain, dark urine, persistent fever or sore throat, easy bruising or bleeding, or unusual fatigue. Your doctor will monitor your blood, kidney and liver while you are using ANCOBON.

ANCOBON USES:
ANCOBON is used to treat a severe fungal infection.

ANCOBON PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing liver disease, kidney disease, bone marrow disorders or any allergies. ANCOBON should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if ANCOBON appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

ANCOBON DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take especially amphotericin B, or cytosine. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

ANCOBON OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

ANCOBON NOTES:
ANCOBON is usually administered initially in the hospital where your condition can be monitored closely. Laboratory tests will be done periodically to be sure the drug is working properly and to monitor for possible side effects.

MISSED ANCOBON DOSE:
It is important to take each dose at the scheduled time. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

ANCOBON STORAGE:
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat, moisture and light. Do not store in the bathroom.
