GUAIFENESIN - ORAL (gweye-FEN-eh-sin)

Guiatuss, Organidin NR, Robitussin

COUGH CONTROL SIDE EFFECTS:
COUGH CONTROL may cause stomach upset or nausea. If these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

HOW TO USE COUGH CONTROL:
COUGH CONTROL: Take each dose of COUGH CONTROL with a full glass of water. Water will also help break-up the mucous and clear congestion. Drink plenty of fluids while taking COUGH CONTROL, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. Do not take COUGH CONTROL for a chronic, persistent cough such as occurs with smoking or asthma unless directed by your doctor. If the cough lasts for more than one week, tends to recur, or is accompanied by a fever, headache or rash, consult your doctor.

COUGH CONTROL USES:
COUGH CONTROL is used to relieve a dry cough and helps to loosen phlegm and mucous in the lungs so you can "cough-up" (expectorate) mucous.

COUGH CONTROL PRECAUTIONS:
If you have any of the following health problems, consult your doctor before using COUGH CONTROL: breathing problems such as emphysema/chronic bronchitis/asthma, smoking, any allergies. COUGH CONTROL should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if COUGH CONTROL is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

COUGH CONTROL DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of all the medicines you may use, (both prescription and nonprescription), especially: cough- and-cold medicines. Guaifenesin may affect the results of certain lab tests. Be sure your caregivers are aware you use this medicine before lab tests are performed. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

COUGH CONTROL OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, fatigue, weakness, dizziness, and unusually slow heartbeat.

COUGH CONTROL NOTES:
COUGH CONTROL comes in a variety of dose forms such as tablets, capsules, long acting tablets or capsules and a syrup. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to recommend the best product for you.

MISSED COUGH CONTROL DOSE:
If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

COUGH CONTROL STORAGE:
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom. Do not freeze liquid forms of this medication. Do not store syrup in the refrigerator.
