EMCYT SIDE EFFECTS:
EMCYT may cause nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, gas, flushing, dry skin, headache, thinning hair, breast enlargement, irritated throat or hoarseness. If these symptoms continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop dark stools, stomach pains, easy bruising or bleeding, breathing difficulty, chest pain, jaundice, skin rash, itching, weakness or swelling of the ankles or feet while taking EMCYT. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
HOW TO USE EMCYT:
EMCYT: This medication is taken by mouth as directed. This is best taken with a full glass of water one hour before or two hours after meals. Avoid intake of milk, dairy products and calcium-rich foods or medications concurrently with EMCYT. The absorption of the drug will be affected. Make sure you understand your dosing schedule and follow it closely. Do not take this more often or skip any doses unless directed to do so by your doctor.
EMCYT USES:
This is an anticancer medication used to treat prostate cancer.
EMCYT PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing blood disorders, diabetes, high blood pressure, liver disease, kidney disease, bone disease or any allergies. Birth control measures are recommended during therapy because EMCYT can cause fetal harm. Discuss with your doctor the risks related to pregnancy.
EMCYT DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including calcium supplements and calcium-based antacids (including dairy products as well). Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
EMCYT OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
EMCYT NOTES:
Laboratory tests will be done periodically to be sure the drug is working properly and to monitor for possible side effects.
MISSED EMCYT DOSE:
Try to take each dose at the scheduled time. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
EMCYT STORAGE:
Store in the refrigerator. Capsules may be left at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) for 24 to 48 hours if necessary.
