ESTRING SIDE EFFECTS:
Vaginal discomfort, increased vaginal discharge, nausea or stomach pain may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Report promptly severe headache, back/joint pain or abnormal vaginal itching, discharge or odor. Unlikely but report promptly abnormal vaginal bleeding, breast pain or trouble sleeping. Very unlikely but report promptly vision changes, severe leg pain, swelling, chest pain, mental/mood changes or lumps in breast. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
HOW TO USE ESTRING:
ESTRING: Insert the ring into the upper third of the vagina, as directed. Generally, the ring is left in place for 90 days and then removed and replaced with a new ring. Do not leave a ring in place for longer than 90 days. Learn all usage instructions in the product package and ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unclear about any of the information. After washing and drying your hands, insert the ring into the upper third of the vagina. When placed properly, you should not feel the ring and it will not interfere with sexual intercourse. If the ring moves into the lower part of the vagina, push it back into place with a finger. If the ring falls out of the vagina, rinse the ring with lukewarm water and replace. The ring is removed by hooking a finger through the ring and gently pulling it out. Throw away used ring (do not flush). Vaginal and urinary symptoms should improve within 2-3 weeks of starting ESTRING. If symptoms persist, contact your doctor.
ESTRING WARNING:
ESTRING has been reported to increase the chance of womb (endometrial) cancer in women who have been through menopause. This risk appears to depend on the length of time this drug is used and the amount of estrogen per dose. If you use ESTRING for an extended period, you should be evaluated at least every 6 months. If you experience abnormal vaginal bleeding, notify your doctor promptly. ESTRING is not effective in preventing or treating a tendency to lose a fetus (natural habitual abortion) nor the threat of losing a fetus. ESTRING must not be used during pregnancy because its use may result in birth defects or cancer later in the child's life. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, consult your doctor immediately to discuss the risk to the fetus.
ESTRING USES:
ESTRING is used to treat vaginal and urinary symptoms associated with menopause/change of life.
ESTRING PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor your medical history, including any allergies, current vaginal infection, abnormal vaginal bleeding, hormone related cancers (e.g., breast or uterus cancer), gallbladder disease, high blood pressure, asthma, migraine headaches, seizures or heart, kidney or liver disease. ESTRING should not be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. Estradiol is excreted into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this product is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast- feeding.
ESTRING DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially other drugs that are applied directly into the vagina. ESTRING can affect the results of certain lab tests. make sure lab personnel and your doctors know you use ESTRING. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
ESTRING OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, and vaginal bleeding.
ESTRING NOTES:
Do not share ESTRING with others. While using estrogen-containing medicines, visit your doctor at least once a year for a full physical exam.
MISSED ESTRING DOSE:
Not applicable. However, if you have not inserted a new ring after 90 days, contact your doctor to establish a new schedule for using ESTRING.
ESTRING STORAGE:
Store sealed pouch at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 - 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
