GASTRO BISMUTH DESCRIPTION:
BISMUTH SUBSALICYLATE - ORAL (BIZ-muth sub-sal-ISS-ill-ate)

GASTRO BISMUTH SIDE EFFECTS:
GASTRO BISMUTH is generally well tolerated. Stools may appear gray-black in color while taking GASTRO BISMUTH. Do not be alarmed. This will disappear when the medication is stopped. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
HOW TO USE GASTRO BISMUTH:
GASTRO BISMUTH: The liquid form of GASTRO BISMUTH must be shaken well before pouring each dose. Chewable tablets must be chewed thoroughly or dissolved in the mouth. Non-chewable tablets and caplets must be swallowed whole with a glass of water. The dose may be repeated every 30 minutes to one hour as needed but no more than 8 doses should be taken in a 24 hour period.
GASTRO BISMUTH USES:
GASTRO BISMUTH is used to treat indigestion, nausea, diarrhea; to relieve stomach cramps and to prevent traveler's diarrhea.
GASTRO BISMUTH PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor if you have any illness or allergies. GASTRO BISMUTH should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Since small amounts of GASTRO BISMUTH are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
GASTRO BISMUTH DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including aspirin, blood thinners, tetracycline antibiotics or any medications for diabetes or gout. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
GASTRO BISMUTH OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include ringing in ears, dizziness, confusion, and coma.
GASTRO BISMUTH NOTES:
If the condition for which this was prescribed does not improve after 2 days or becomes worse or if a fever is present, notify your doctor.
MISSED GASTRO BISMUTH DOSE:
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
GASTRO BISMUTH STORAGE:
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. The liquid may be stored in the refrigerator to improve the taste, but it is not necessary. Do not store in the bathroom.
