GASTROGRAFIN DESCRIPTION:
DIATRIZOATE MEGLUMINE AND DIATRIZOATE SODIUM - SOLUTION (dye-uh-TRY-zoh-ate MEG-lew-meen/SO-dee-um)

GASTROGRAFIN SIDE EFFECTS:
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, rash, itching, or heartburn may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: unusually fast heartbeat, headache, sensitivity to heat, weight loss, nervousness. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: lightheadedness, dizziness, change in amount of urine, throat swelling. An allergic reaction to GASTROGRAFIN is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

HOW TO USE GASTROGRAFIN:
GASTROGRAFIN: Learn all preparation and usage instructions in the product package. If any of the information is unclear, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Special mixing instructions are needed for children, the elderly, or poorly nourished adults; IV fluids may be used in these individuals. Take GASTROGRAFIN by mouth usually 15 to 30 minutes prior to your test; or use as directed by your doctor. The dosage is based on your condition, age, size, and the test being performed. This product may also be given rectally prior to an X-ray or other contrast test if your doctor needs to view your lower intestine. Consult your doctor for more information on your test.

GASTROGRAFIN USES:
GASTROGRAFIN is used before an X-ray or similar tests (e.g., tomography) to help your doctor view on film, your throat (esophagus), stomach, and intestines more effectively. It may be used with other injectable products (IV contrast) as determined by your doctor.

GASTROGRAFIN PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: thyroid problems (e.g., hyperthyroid, goiter), stomach problems, recent dieting, recent emotional stress, any allergies (especially to iodine or other contrast products). Tell your doctor if you have had, or are going to have, any other medical tests performed before using GASTROGRAFIN. Caution is advised when using GASTROGRAFIN in children because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug. Caution is advised when using GASTROGRAFIN in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using this medication. GASTROGRAFIN passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast- feeding.

GASTROGRAFIN DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially: thyroid medication (e.g., levothyroxine), iodine-containing products; antacids, H2-antagonists (e.g., famotidine, ranitidine), proton pump inhibitors (e.g., lansoprazole, omeprazole). This product can affect the results of certain lab tests. Make sure laboratory personnel and your doctors know you use GASTROGRAFIN. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

GASTROGRAFIN OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

GASTROGRAFIN NOTES:
Do not share GASTROGRAFIN with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to monitor your progress.

MISSED GASTROGRAFIN DOSE:
If you miss a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist to establish a new dosing schedule.

GASTROGRAFIN STORAGE:
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
