KA-PEC DESCRIPTION:
ATTAPULGITE - ORAL (at-uh-PULL-gite)

KA-PEC SIDE EFFECTS:
KA-PEC is generally well tolerated. Stomach upset may occur. If diarrhea is not relieved after two days of using this medication or you develop a fever or stomach cramps, notify your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
HOW TO USE KA-PEC:
KA-PEC: KA-PEC is usually taken after each loose bowel movement. Follow package instructions. Chewable tablets must be chewed thoroughly before swallowing. The liquid form should be shaken well before pouring each dose.
KA-PEC USES:
Attapulgite is used in the treatment of diarrhea. It works by absorbing fluid in the intestine.
KA-PEC PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing heart disease, bowel disease or allergies. KA-PEC should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Consult your doctor before using any medication while breast-feeding.
KA-PEC DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
KA-PEC OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
KA-PEC NOTES:
To maintain normal bowel habits, it is important to drink plenty of fluids (4-6 8 ounce glasses a day), eat foods high in fiber and roughage and exercise regularly.
MISSED KA-PEC DOSE:
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
KA-PEC STORAGE:
Store tablets at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. The liquid form of KA-PEC may be stored in the refrigerator to improve taste.
