LUVOX DESCRIPTION:
FLUVOXAMINE - ORAL TABLET (flew-VOX-uh-meen)

LUVOX SIDE EFFECTS:
LUVOX may cause nausea, vomiting, constipation, upset stomach, weakness, loss of appetite, delayed ejaculation, decreased libido, urinary frequency, altered sexual function, drowsiness, headache, dry mouth, nervousness, trouble sleeping, increased sweating, tremor or altered taste sensations. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: a rapid/pounding/irregular heartbeat, chest pain, confusion, disorientation, bruising or bleeding, unusual or uncontrolled movements (especially around the face), flu-like symptoms (fever, chills). LUVOX may cause drowsiness. Use caution operating machinery or engaging in activities requiring alertness if this makes you drowsy. Males - though unlikely to occur, if you develop a painful, prolonged erection, stop using LUVOX and seek immediate medical attention. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
HOW TO USE LUVOX:
LUVOX: Take LUVOX by mouth exactly as prescribed. It is usually taken at bedtime. Your dose may be adjusted gradually during the first weeks of therapy to find the dose just right for you. Follow dosing instructions closely. Do not take this more often, increase your dose or stop taking this without first consulting your doctor.
LUVOX USES:
Fluvoxamine is used to treat obsessive-compulsive (OCD) disorders.
OTHER USES OF LUVOX:
LUVOX may also be used for depression.
LUVOX PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor if you have: a history of seizures, heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, allergies (especially drug allergies). LUVOX should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. This medication appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
LUVOX DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may use, especially of: lithium, antidepressant medications (e.g., amitriptyline, fluoxetine), migraine medication (e.g., sumatriptan, zolmitriptan), pimozide, cisapride, diltiazem, dexfenfluramine, warfarin, phenytoin, theophylline, tryptophan, terfenadine, astemizole, thioridazine, benzodiazepines, carbamazepine, clozapine, methadone, propranolol, metoprolol, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), haloperidol. LUVOX should not be used within 2 weeks of taking MAO inhibitors. It is recommended you avoid drinking alcohol while using this medication. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
LUVOX OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, loss of consciousness, severe nausea, breathing problems, irregular heartbeat, tremors, and seizures.
LUVOX NOTES:
Laboratory tests may be done periodically while taking LUVOX to monitor the effects.
MISSED LUVOX DOSE:
Try to take each dose at the scheduled time. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose. Instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
LUVOX STORAGE:
Store LUVOX at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children.
