MAGSAL DESCRIPTION:
MAGNESIUM SALICYLATE - PHENYLTOLOXAMINE - ORAL (mag-NEE-zee-um sal-ISS-uh-late w/FEN-ull-toll-OX-uh-meen)

Magsal, Mobigesic

MAGSAL SIDE EFFECTS:
Heartburn, nausea, vomiting, headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nervousness and dry mouth may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water or use a saliva substitute. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects: stomach pain, black stools, vomiting of material that looks like coffee grounds, ringing in the ears, hearing loss, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, blurred vision, a change in amount of urine. An allergic reaction to MAGSAL is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other side effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

HOW TO USE MAGSAL:
MAGSAL: Take MAGSAL by mouth, generally 3 to 4 times daily with food or a full glass of milk (8oz. or 240 ml) as directed by your doctor. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy.

MAGSAL WARNING:
Children and teenagers should not use aspirin, aspirin- containing or aspirin-related medications for flu symptoms or chickenpox without first consulting a doctor. A rare but serious illness known as Reye's syndrome may occur.

MAGSAL USES:
MAGSAL is a combination of an anti-inflammatory agent and an antihistamine used to relieve the pain and swelling (inflammation) of arthritis.

MAGSAL PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney or liver problems, heart disease, bleeding disorders, stomach/intestinal ulcers, high blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma (narrow angle), asthma, allergies (especially to aspirin or NSAID such as ibuprofen). MAGSAL may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. This medicine may cause stomach bleeding. Daily use of alcohol and this medicine may increase your risk for stomach bleeding. Inform your dentist or doctor that you are using this medication, especially before surgery. Caution is advised when prescribing or using MAGSAL in the elderly since they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug. This medicine contains a drug similar to aspirin. Children and teenagers should not take MAGSAL if they have chickenpox, influenza or any undiagnosed illness without first consulting a doctor about Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious illness. MAGSAL should be used only when clearly needed during the first six months of pregnancy; it is not recommended for use during the last three months of pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor before using MAGSAL. MAGSAL passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

MAGSAL DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, phenylbutazone, "blood thinners" (e.g., warfarin, heparin), aspirin and other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen), acetazolamide, diabetes drugs (e.g., sulfonylureas such as chlorpropamide, tolbutamide), methotrexate. Also report use of drugs that cause drowsiness such as: sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines, anti-seizure drugs (e.g. phenytoin), muscle relaxants, antihistamines that cause drowsiness (e.g., diphenhydramine). Check the labels on all your medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products or pain relievers/fever reducers) because they may contain drowsiness-causing ingredients, or aspirin-like NSAIDs. Ask your pharmacist about the safe use of those products. MAGSAL may interfere with certain laboratory tests, including certain urine sugar tests for diabetics (such as Clinistix, Tes-Tape or Clinitest). Inform laboratory personnel that you are taking MAGSAL. Ask your pharmacist for more details. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

MAGSAL OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, excessive sweating, fast or deep breathing, ringing in ears, abnormal behavior, exhaustion, and loss of consciousness.

MAGSAL NOTES:
Do not share MAGSAL with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g. liver function tests) may be performed to monitor your progress.

MISSED MAGSAL DOSE:
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

MAGSAL STORAGE:
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
