METROCREAM DESCRIPTION:
METRONIDAZOLE - TOPICAL (meh-troh-NID-uh-zole)

COMMON METROCREAM BRAND NAME(S):
Metrocream, Metrogel, Metrolotion, Noritate

METROCREAM SIDE EFFECTS:
METROCREAM may cause burning, stinging or redness when first applied to the skin. This should disappear in a few days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

HOW TO USE METROCREAM:
METROCREAM: Clean and dry the affected area before applying the medication. To apply, gently rub a small thin film of the medication to the affected area and surrounding skin as directed. It may take about three weeks before any improvement is seen and up to nine weeks for full benefit. If no improvement is seen after three weeks, consult your doctor. Avoid using METROCREAM around the eye area.

METROCREAM USES:
METROCREAM is used topically to treat inflammation due to certain skin infections (e.g., rosacea).

METROCREAM PRECAUTIONS:
METROCREAM should be used cautiously during pregnancy only if clearly needed. It is not known if this medication appears in breast milk. Consult with your doctor before breast-feeding.

METROCREAM DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Inform your doctor of all the medicines (both prescription and nonprescription) you use and your complete medical history. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

METROCREAM OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

METROCREAM NOTES:
METROCREAM is prescribed for your current condition only. Do not use it for another infection or share it with someone else. Another infection later on may require a different medication.

MISSED METROCREAM DOSE:
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

METROCREAM STORAGE:
Store at room temperature away from sunlight.
