NASCOBAL DESCRIPTION:
CYANOCOBALAMIN - NASAL (SYE-an-oh-koh-BAL-uh-min)

Nascobal

NASCOBAL SIDE EFFECTS:
Headache, nausea, dizziness or nasal congestion may occur. If these persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Side effects very unlikely to occur are muscle cramping or weakness, leg or arm swelling or pain, or tingling of the hands or feet and should be reported to your doctor. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

HOW TO USE NASCOBAL:
NASCOBAL: NASCOBAL is usually used once a week in the nose or as directed by your doctor. Use this medicine at least one hour before or after hot food or drink. Learn the proper way to use this from your pharmacist or doctor and follow all instructions carefully. Certain conditions may require lifelong use of NASCOBAL. Treatment is usually postponed when nasal congestion, common cold or allergies are present.

NASCOBAL USES:
NASCOBAL is used to treat vitamin B12 shortage. This product should not be used to test vitamin B12 absorption (Schilling test).

NASCOBAL PRECAUTIONS:
Before using NASCOBAL, tell your doctor your medical history including Leber's disease (an eye problem) and of drug or food allergies. Do not use folic acid in place of vitamin B12 treatments. Limit alcohol use as it may affect the level of vitamin B12 in your body. NASCOBAL should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

NASCOBAL DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially colchicine, para-aminosalicylic acid and drugs which affect the blood cell production such as anti-cancer drugs, chloramphenicol, zidovudine and ganciclovir. Methotrexate, pyrimethamine and certain antibiotics may interfere with folic acid and vitamin B12 blood test results. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

NASCOBAL OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

NASCOBAL NOTES:
Do not share NASCOBAL with others. Laboratory tests will be run to monitor the effects of the drug. Keep all laboratory and doctor appointments.

MISSED NASCOBAL DOSE:
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

NASCOBAL STORAGE:
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Do not freeze.
