PENETREX DESCRIPTION:

PENETREX SIDE EFFECTS:
Indigestion, loss of appetite, unusual taste in the mouth, nausea, headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, increased sensitivity to the sun, anxiety, trouble sleeping, nervousness or any mental/mood changes may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. To avoid dizziness or lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Report new pain or tenderness (tendonitis) in arms or legs promptly. Notify your doctor if you develop stomach cramps, bloody stools, vaginal yeast infection, ringing in the ears or seizures. PENETREX may infrequently cause drowsiness. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, fever or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
HOW TO USE PENETREX:
PENETREX: Take PENETREX by mouth at least one hour before or two hours after meals. For best results, take each dose at evenly spaced intervals around the clock. This will ensure a constant level of medication in your blood. Take PENETREX for the full time prescribed. Stopping therapy too soon may result in a reinfection. Drink plenty of fluids while taking PENETREX. If you take any of the following items, take them 8 hours before or 2 hours after taking PENETREX: zinc, iron, sucralfate, dairy products or antacids that contain magnesium, calcium or aluminum.
PENETREX USES:
PENETREX is an antibiotic used to treat infections of the urinary tract as well as for gonorrhea.
PENETREX PRECAUTIONS:
Before taking PENETREX, tell your doctor your medical history especially of epilepsy, kidney disease, tendon problems, nervous system disorders, liver disease, blood vessel problems and of any drug allergies. Use caution driving or performing tasks requiring alertness if PENETREX makes you dizzy or lightheaded. Limit alcohol intake. Because PENETREX may make you more sensitive to the sun, avoid prolonged sun exposure. Wear protective clothing and use a sunscreen when outdoors. PENETREX should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. This drug is excreted into breast milk. You may have to stop nursing or stop using PENETREX. Consult you doctor before breast-feeding.
PENETREX DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take especially sucralfate, iron, zinc, digoxin, cyclosporine, theophylline, warfarin, other antibiotics, didanosine, bismuth (e.g., Pepto Bismol), NSAID (e.g., ibuprofen), cimetidine, ranitidine, dairy products or if you take antacids that contain calcium, aluminum or magnesium. Limit caffeine intake during therapy since PENETREX can increase the effects of caffeine. Be aware of caffeine in colas, chocolate and some pain medications. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
PENETREX OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
PENETREX NOTES:
PENETREX has been prescribed for your current condition only. Do not use it later for another infection or share it with someone else. A different medication may be needed in those cases.
MISSED PENETREX DOSE:
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
PENETREX STORAGE:
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom.
