STADOL DESCRIPTION:
BUTORPHANOL INJECTION (byou-TOR-fan-ohl)

STADOL SIDE EFFECTS:
Drowsiness, dizziness, incoordination, nervousness, a floating feeling, headache, nausea, vomiting, constipation, trouble sleeping, dry mouth, confusion and sweating may occur. If these effects continue or become severe, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop anxiety, hallucinations, mental confusion, a slow pulse, an irregular heartbeat or breathing trouble while using STADOL. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

HOW TO USE STADOL:
STADOL: This is given by injection into a vein or muscle by a health care professional. How much and how often you receive this will depend on your condition and response. Use STADOL exactly as prescribed. Do not increase your dose, take it more frequently or use it for a longer period of time than prescribed because STADOL can be habit-forming. Also, if used for a longer period of time, do not suddenly stop using STADOL without your doctor's approval. When used for extended periods, STADOL may not work as well and may require different dosing. Consult your doctor if the medication is not working well.

STADOL USES:
Butorphanol is a narcotic-like pain reliever. It is used to relieve the pain of surgical procedures and labor and to boost the effects of anesthesia.

STADOL PRECAUTIONS:
Before using this, tell your doctor if you have any heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, lung disease, breathing disorders, a history of drug dependency or any allergies, especially to pain relievers. Use caution driving and avoid activities requiring alertness since STADOL can cause dizziness, drowsiness and incoordination. Avoid the use of alcohol while using STADOL as it will increase these side effects. STADOL should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. When in labor, STADOL may be used with caution. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Small amounts of STADOL are found in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the effects of this medication. Use it with caution. Watch for dizziness.

STADOL DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of any nonprescription or prescription medication you may take particularly other narcotic pain relievers, tranquilizers, muscle relaxers, medication for sleep, anxiety or depression or selected antihistamine. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

STADOL OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include cold and clammy skin, slowed breathing, slowed heartbeat, drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, deep sleep, and loss of consciousness.

STADOL NOTES:
Do not allow anyone else to use STADOL. Properly discard used syringes, needles and any other supplies used for injection.

MISSED STADOL DOSE:
STADOL is only given as needed by a health care professional.

STADOL STORAGE:
Store STADOL at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children.
