TORECAN DESCRIPTION:
THIETHYLPERAZINE - ORAL (thigh-ETH-ill-PAIR-uh-zeen)

TORECAN SIDE EFFECTS:
Constipation, drowsiness, vision changes or dry mouth may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Unlikely to occur, but report promptly: restlessness, muscle stiffness, weakness, difficulty speaking, loss of balance, mask- like facial expression, trembling or shaking, dizziness, lip smacking or other uncontrollable movements, difficulty urinating, skin rash/discoloration. Very unlikely to occur, but report promptly: sore throat, unusual bleeding or bruising, stomach pain, yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, hot dry skin, vomiting. Though very unlikely to occur, notify your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following effects: severe muscle stiffness, confusion, fever, seizures, irregular/fast heartbeat, increased sweating, prolonged/painful erection. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
HOW TO USE TORECAN:
TORECAN: Take TORECAN by mouth exactly as prescribed. Do not take this more often or increase your dose without consulting your doctor. Your condition will not improve any faster but the risk of side effects will be increased.
TORECAN USES:
TORECAN is used to treat nausea and vomiting.
TORECAN PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of liver disease, seizure disorder, blood disorders, glaucoma, parkinsonism, asthma or if you have any allergies. TORECAN may make you more sensitive to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Wear protective clothing and use a sunscreen when outdoors. Because TORECAN may cause drowsiness, use caution operating machinery or engaging in activities requiring alertness. It is recommended to avoid alcohol while taking this medication. The manufacturer of TORECAN states TORECAN should not be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. It is not known if TORECAN is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
TORECAN DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may use, especially of anti- anxiety agents, antidepressants, muscle relaxants; medication for seizures or high blood pressure; cabergoline, metrizamide, guanethidine, guanadrel, grepafloxacin, sparfloxacin, lithium, cisapride, atropine-like drugs, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), drugs used to aid sleep, drowsiness-causing antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine) and of any other drugs that may make you drowsy. Many cough-and-cold products contain ingredients that may add a drowsiness effect. Before using cough-and-cold medications, ask your doctor or pharmacist about the safe use of those products. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
TORECAN OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include muscle spasms of face or neck, confusion, seizures, lightheadedness, and slowed breathing.
TORECAN NOTES:
TORECAN is also available in a suppository and an injectable form which are useful in cases of severe vomiting. Do not share TORECAN with others.
MISSED TORECAN DOSE:
Take each dose at the scheduled time. However, if you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
TORECAN STORAGE:
Store TORECAN at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children.
